LCS handout

Before requesting assistance

A short, specific request is easier to assess. Prepare these details before emailing LCS.

  • Business name. Use the exact entity name. Include the formation jurisdiction and file number if readily available.
  • Requested task. Describe what you want done or the question you need answered. Distinguish a request for information from an instruction to act.
  • Relevant date. State any date shown on a notice and explain where it came from. Do not assume an email inquiry is being monitored for a deadline.
  • Your relationship. Say whether you are an existing client and how you are connected to the entity.
  • Contact details. Provide a reply address and, if useful, a telephone number.
  • Documents. Describe any relevant document without attaching sensitive material. Ask for the appropriate delivery channel.
  • Approval. Confirm scope, availability, fees and who is authorized to instruct LCS before work begins.
